Lake Sammamish
Whether you come for the fishing, or waterskiing is more your thing, one thing is certain – Lake Sammamish packs quite a punch when it comes to summertime activities. This 8-mile long lake located east of Seattle is a popular spot for all sorts of water sports, including jet-skiing, boating, kayaking, swimming, and much more. The north end of the lake even offers a public slalom course for waterskiing that runs west to east.
Lake Sammamish is bordered by Marymoor Park at the lake’s north end, Lake Sammamish State Park at its south end, and the East Lake Sammamish Trail which runs the entire length of the lake. The trail offers good fishing spots for anglers as it makes the entire lake area accessible.
A wide variety of annual events take place at Lake Sammamish, including Parkadilly Kids’s concert & Fair, the AVP volleyball tournament, Paddlefest and Get Outdoors Expo. Most of these events are based out of Lake Sammamish State Park which has a $10 entrance fee – you can buy the Discover Pass for $30 instead, which will get you into any state park for a whole year. For more information on these and other events at the lake, visit the Friends of Lake Sammamish State Park website.
